Our Mission

Church of Promise in Christ Inc. (“COPICI”) was founded on Christian principles. Our founder understood the needs of the people and wanted to serve in an effective manner that would bring HOPE to its members and surrounding communities. Yes, indeed we are a unique church but we
are here to serve with humility.
We make a difference in lives and strive to operate with a compassion heart. We demonstrate our commitment through our actions of showing mercy to the hopeless. COPICI continues to be dependable, ethical and is always pursing excellence in all that we do for others. We are an integral
part of this community. God has given us a mandate to love, serve, teach and empower all communities and all generations.

Our mission is to reform our diverse communities irrespective of religion, race, nationality and disability through caring and propagating the word of God and to provide outstanding spiritual and physical service to individuals, families and members.

Our History

In 1975, The Honorable Archbishop Beulah O’Connor originally established COPICI as St. Francis Divine Ascensionist Church. In December 1990 the Church officially became incorporated by the State of New York under the name of St. Francis Divine Ascension 1st Church, Inc. However, in March 1999 an application was filed for a name change becoming Church of Promise in Christ, Inc. (COPICI)
COPICI is currently functioning under the leadership of Rev. Allison Guerra Pastor, Rev. Florence Chai-Hong, Associate Pastor, Rev. Virginia Bell, Overseer and Bishop Carlos A. Jesse I, Presiding Bishop. The church is governed under the apostolic principle, which adopts the teaching of Jesus Christ and the Holy Spirit.
An administrative board comprising of nine members who were elected by membership manages the church. This board has the power to execute all business affairs on behalf of the church.
On May 8 th , 2012, COPICI paid off its mortgage and is now the owner of 474 Kosciusko Street.
